What Type of Water Heater Is Right for You?

The big debate about storage tank vs. tankless water heaters vs. heat pump (hybrid) water heaters can be confusing. Which one is right for you? Here’s a breakdown of each type:

  • Storage Tank Water Heaters: Conventional tank water heaters are the most common type of water heater. Natural gas water heaters use less energy and cost as much as half that of an electric water heater. However, gas water heaters are more expensive upfront.
  • Tankless (“On-Demand”) Water Heaters: Tankless water heaters do not store hot water, but instead heat the water using coils as it is needed. They’re significantly more energy efficient than storage tank water heaters, but provide limited water flow. So, for example, if you need to run the washing machine and shower at the same time, this might not be the best option. Tankless models are more expensive than conventional tank units but last longer and may save money over time.
  • Heat Pump (Hybrid) Water Heaters: Heat pump water heaters take heat from the air and transfer it to the water. While they are more expensive, hybrid water heaters use about 60 percent less energy than electric tank water heaters. These energy efficient water heaters don’t work well in cold spaces and must be placed in an area that will remain between 40 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Don’t worry, we know it’s a lot of information to sort through. Our team is here to go over your options with you. Give us a call and we’ll be happy to explain each type in detail and help you make the right decision for your home.

Tough Drain Clogs Are No Match for Our Expert Solutions

Clogged drains can throw off your routine. It can be tempting to open up a bottle of chemical drain cleaner and call it a day. Before you do that though, keep in mind that many of these cleaners can cause real harm to your drains. In fact, commercial drain cleaners weaken the pipes and cause leaks to form. Still not convinced? Liquid drain cleaner creates a porous surface inside the pipes creating the perfect environment for future clogs.

Save yourself from the headache of dealing with water leaks and more clogs. Call a professional plumber to make sure the work is done properly and prevent damage to your property. At Beltz Home Service Co., our drain experts use the latest tools and technology to eliminate even the toughest clogs and get your drains flowing as they should.
